Founded in 1977, Madel S.p.A. is one of the most prominent Italian companies in the household cleaning and personal care sector. The company’s production area spans 86,000 square meters, employing more than 200 people. With 15 state-of-the-art production lines, the company boasts high automation and production capacity (production speed reaches 300 pieces per minute), meeting all market demands. Additionally, Madel operates its own bottle blowing plant, capable of producing up to 80 million units.

Need

In 2015, due to the inadequacy of its existing planning and scheduling tools, Madel decided to enhance its corporate information system (SAGE X3) with the advanced Compass software solution for production and procurement planning and scheduling.

Solution

Madel operates with an MTS (Make to Stock) approach, typical for its sector.

The Compass software, integrated with the SAGE X3 ERP system, supports the planner in the development of the Master Production Schedule (MPS) for all finished product references:

• Production proposals are “leveled” into a finite capacity packaging schedule optimized by managing all constraints.
• The feasible packaging schedule serves as the input for determining bulk material requirements and the daily bottle withdrawal plan, which Compass automatically sends to the supplier.
